Santo Domingo, Republica Dominicana.- El 6 de septiembre 1998 ha de ser recordado como un día muy significativo para el deporte mundial con el nacimiento de la International Kurash Association (IKA), entidad que al correr de los años muestra fehacientemente una amplia expansión mundial con la realización de los diferentes campeonatos mundiales que cubre el área infantil, juvenil, senior y master, tanto en femenino como en masculino, además, una amplia capacitación con cursos y seminarios de arbitraje y entrenamiento de parte del International Kurash Institute (IKI).
Acorde con esa incursión del kurash como deporte milenario de más de 3500 años de existencia y por eso llamado la Madre de Todas las Artes Marciales, la Union Panamericana 
de Kurash (UPK) ha replicado en América las ejecutorias de su organismo rector a nivel mundial por medio de sus entidades nacionales afiliadas como lo son Estados Unidos, México, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panamá, República Dominicana, Cuba, Haití, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Perú, Bolivia, Chile y Brasil, entre otras.
En este XXVIII Aniversario de la fundación de la International Kurash Association diferentes actividades han sido realizadas en toda América para celebrar esta importante fecha como intercambios competitivos, cursos de arbitraje, 
charlas sobre el origen y desarrollo creciente de nuestra disciplina, concursos de dibujo con el tema kurash, para junto al Pueblo de la Republica de Uzbekistán, país de donde esta disciplina marcial es originaria, regocijarnos por el amplio y fructífero trayecto transitado en estas casi tres décadas de existencia.
La International Kurash Association ha estado presidida por el señor Komil Yusupov, uzbeko (1998-2015), Haider Farman, kuwaití (2016-2026) y desde el 4 de julio 2026 su actual incumbente lo es el señor Ziyoviddin Khodjiniyazov (uzbeko), una persona de larga trayectoria en la organización y desarrollo de la entidad la que ha revitalizado e iniciado 
varios proyectos en beneficio de este deporte contándose entre ellos los VI Juegos Nómadas en Kyrgyzstan del 31 de agosto al 6 de septiembre , el I Campeonato Mundial de Kurash Militar a realizarse en la ciudad de Taskent del 10 al 13 de septiembre y el XV Campeonato Mundial Senior, femenino y masculino, cuya fecha está pautada del 4 al 9 de noviembre en Astana, Kazakstán, entre otras importantes actividades.
Es pues, de regocijo esta fecha de la fundación de la International Kurash Association a la vez que se augura un futuro prometedor con planes, proyectos y ejecutorias para escalar a los primeros planos del deporte mundial con la integración en diferentes organismos deportivos que trazan la ruta del deporte a nivel internacional.
El Comité Ejecutivo de la Union Panamericana de Kurash (UPK), ha estado coordinando las 
diferentes actividades del XXVIII Dia Mundial del Kurash, contándose entre ellos Jaime Casanova Martínez (Republica Dominicana), Elizabeth Thompson Fantuzzi (Chile) y Julián Abreu Jiménez (Estados Unidos), quienes son presidente, vicepresidenta y secretario, respectivamente.
De igual manera los señores Alquimedes Ortiz Cruz (Republica Dominicana), Luis Bogantes (Costa Rica) y Ulrick Louis-Charles (Haití), en sus condiciones de directores técnicos de arbitraje, tecnología y grados, respectivamente.

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.– September 6, 1998, will be remembered as a very significant day for world sport with the founding of the International Kurash Association (IKA). Over the years, this organization has demonstrated significant global expansion through the organization of various world championships covering children, youth, senior, and master categories, for both men and women. Furthermore, it offers extensive training through courses and seminars on refereeing and coaching provided by the International Kurash Institute (IKI).
In keeping with the enduring legacy of kurash as an ancient sport with over 3,500 years of history, and thus known as the Mother of All Martial Arts, the Panamerican Kurash Union (PKU) has replicated the achievements of its global governing body throughout the Americas through its affiliated national entities, including those in the United States, Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Haiti, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, and Brazil, among others. On this 28th Anniversary of the founding of the International Kurash Association, various activities have been held throughout the Americas to celebrate this important date, including competitive exchanges, referee courses, talks on the origin and growing development of our discipline, and drawing contests with a Kurash theme.
Together with the people of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the country where this martial art originated, we rejoice in the extensive and fruitful journey undertaken in these almost three decades of existence.
The International Kurash Association has been presided over by Mr. Komil Yusupov, Uzbek (1998-2015), Mr. Haider Farman, Kuwaiti (2016-2026), and since July 4, 2026, its current incumbent is Mr. Ziyoviddin Khodjiniyazov (Uzbek), a person with a long history in the organization and development of the entity.
He has revitalized and initiated several projects to benefit this sport, including the 6th Nomad Games in Kyrgyzstan from August 31 to September 6, the 1st World Military Kurash Championship to be held in Tashkent from September 10 to 13, and the 15th Senior World Championship, for both women and men, scheduled for November 4 to 9 in Astana, Kazakhstan, among other important activities.
This anniversary of the founding of the International Kurash Association is a cause for celebration, and a promising future is anticipated, with plans, projects, and initiatives to reach the forefront of world sport through integration into various sporting organizations that shape the sport’s path internationally.
The Executive Committee of the Panamerican Kurash Union (PKU) has been coordinating the various activities of the 28th World Kurash Day. Among its members are Jaime Casanova Martínez (Dominican Republic), Elizabeth Thompson Fantuzzi (Chile), and Julián Abreu Jiménez (United States), who serve as president, vice president, and secretary, respectively.
Also participating are Alquimedes Ortiz Cruz (Dominican Republic), Luis Bogantes (Costa Rica), and Ulrick Louis-Charles (Haiti), in their respective capacities as technical directors of refereeing, technology, and grading.
