Santo Domingo, Republica Dominicana.- La representación de la Republica de Uzbekistán se alzó con el primer lugar de la justa multidisciplinaria de Aichi – Prefectura de Nagoya, Japón en su versión número veinte con cuatro medallas de oro y dos de bronce del certamen que se realizó en el Aichi Budokan los días 27, 28 y 29 de septiembre 2026.
El segundo lugar fue para la delegación de la República Islámica de Irán al conquistar una medalla de oro e igual cantidad de plata y bronce del evento donde se compitió en 66, 81 y más de 90 kilogramos en las divisiones de hombre y en 57, 78 y más de 87 kilogramos en la rama femenina.
Por otro lado, el prestigioso tercer lugar correspondió a Corea del Sur con una presea de oro y otra de plata en el evento donde participaron 96 competidores de ambas ramas representando a 19 países.
Esta es la tercera presentación del kurash en los Juegos Asiáticos ya que lo hizo en la versión XVIII 2018 de Jakarta–Palembang, Indonesia y en XIX 2022 Hangzhou, China, para completar en los XX Juegos Asiáticos de Aichi – Nagoya, Japón.
El evento de esta ancestral disciplina de Kurash conto con la presencia del señor Ziyoviddin Khodjiniyazovy de Mohammad Reza Nassiri, presidente y secretario de la International Kurash Association, así mismo, Habibulla Tadjiev y Mansur Mirzaev, quienes son presidente del International Kurash Institute (IKI) y director de administración de la IKA, respectivamente.

Uzbekistan Dominates Kurash at the 20th Asian Games

Santo Domingo, Republica Dominicana.– The team representing the Republic of Uzbekistan secured first place at the 20th edition of the multi-sport games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, claiming four gold medals and two bronze medals during the competition held at the Aichi Budokan on September 27, 28, and 29, 2026.
Second place went to the delegation from the Islamic Republic of Iran, which won one gold, one silver, and one bronze medal. Competition took place in the 66 kg, 81 kg, and over-90 kg categories for men, and the 57 kg, 78 kg, and over-87 kg categories for women.
South Korea took the prestigious third-place spot, securing one gold and one silver medal in an event that featured 96 competitors—both male and female—representing 19 countries.
This marks the third appearance of Kurash at the Asian Games, following its inclusion in the 18th edition (Jakarta-Palembang, Indonesia, 2018) and the 19th edition (Hangzhou, China, 2022), culminating in this 20th edition in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
The event showcasing the ancient discipline of Kurash was attended by Mr. Ziyoviddin Khodjiniyazov and Mohammad Reza Nassiri—President and Secretary of the International Kurash Association, respectively—as well as Habibulla Tadjiev and Mansur Mirzaev, the President of the International Kurash Institute (IKI) and the IKA’s Director of Administration, respectively.
