Dominican Kurash athletes take first place in the overall team standings at the continental championship
The next day of the Pan American Championship, hosted by the Dominican Republic in Santo Domingo and the beaches of Boca Chica, was dedicated to competitions among seniors, cadets and juniors.
The championship began with an official opening ceremony. It was attended by the President of the Pan American Kurash Union Jaime Cassanova Martinez, the Head of the Organising Committee Israel Caraballo, PKU Director of Technology Luis Bogantes, Professor of the International Kurash Institute Kim Eur Joong, officials of the Uzbekistan Kurash Federation Uygun Umarov and Sarvarkhodja Abboskhodjaev, as well as delegations and sports teams from 15 countries.
At the event, PKU President Mr. Casanova expressed his gratitude to the International Kurash Association, the Dominican Kurash Federation and all partners for their assistance in organising this championship and the Kurash Week at a high level. It was also emphasised that the sport of Kurash in the Pan American region is becoming increasingly popular.
After the opening ceremony, the competitions began. The championship competitions were held in a spirit of high competition, uncompromising battles and sportsmanship. The competitions held in different age categories left a great impression on the participants and spectators.
At the end of the competition, according to the results of the overall team medal collection:
Dominican Republic – first place
Costa Rica – second place
Guatemala – third place
Mexico – fourth place
Panama – fifth place.
The winners and prize-winners of the championship were awarded medals, diplomas, and important points for the WSP (World Series of Points) rating of the International Kurash Association.
Also, the Continental Championship in Beach Kurash was held as part of the Pan-American Kurash Week, which also became a bright sporting celebration for the participants.

Atletas dominicanos de Kurash obtienen el primer lugar en la clasificación general por equipos del campeonato continental.
El día siguiente del Campeonato Panamericano, organizado por la República Dominicana en Santo Domingo y las playas de Boca Chica, se dedicó a las competencias de mayores, cadetes y juveniles.
El campeonato comenzó con una ceremonia de inauguración oficial. Asistieron el presidente de la Unión Panamericana de Kurash, Jaime Casanova Martínez; el jefe del Comité Organizador, Israel Caraballo; el director de Tecnología de la UPK, Luis Bogantes; el profesor del Instituto Internacional de Kurash, Kim Eur Joong; los representantes de la Federación Uzbeka de Kurash, Uygun Umarov y Sarvarkhodja Abboskhodjaev; así como delegaciones y equipos deportivos de 15 países.
En el evento, el presidente de la PKU, Sr. Casanova, expresó su agradecimiento a la Asociación Internacional de Kurash, a la Federación Dominicana de Kurash y a todos los colaboradores por su apoyo en la organización de este campeonato y de la Semana del Kurash a un alto nivel.
También se destacó la creciente popularidad del kurash en la región panamericana. Tras la ceremonia de inauguración, comenzaron las competencias.
Las competencias del campeonato se desarrollaron con un espíritu de alta competición, batallas sin concesiones y deportividad.
Las competencias en diferentes categorías de edad causaron una gran impresión en los participantes y espectadores.
Al final de la competencia, según los resultados del medallero general por equipos: República Dominicana – primer lugar, Costa Rica – segundo lugar, Guatemala – tercer lugar México – cuarto lugar y Panamá – quinto lugar.
Los ganadores y premiados del campeonato recibieron medallas, diplomas y puntos importantes para la clasificación WSP (Serie Mundial de Puntos) de la Asociación Internacional de Kurash.
Además, el Campeonato Continental de Kurash Playa se celebró en el marco de la Semana Panamericana del Kurash, que también se convirtió en una vibrante celebración deportiva para los participantes.
