Kurash se incluye en el programa de la Universiada en República Dominicana
La República Dominicana se ha convertido en el centro del continente panamericano para el kurash. El Gobierno de la República Dominicana y la Federación Dominicana de Kurash trabajan regularmente para popularizar el kurash en el país.
Desde este año, las competiciones deportivas de kurash se han incluido oficialmente en el programa de la Universiada del país.
Estudiantes de todas las instituciones de educación superior del país en alrededor de 20 deportes participarán en los Juegos organizados por el Ministerio de Deportes y Recreación, el Ministerio de Educación, Movimiento Olímpico Nacional de la República Dominicana.
Ayer se llevaron a cabo las competencias de la Universiada de Kurash en el Centro Olímpico de Santo Domingo que lleva el nombre de Juan Pablo Duarte.
A la ceremonia de apertura asistieron funcionarios del Comité Organizador de los Juegos, Ministerio de Deportes y Recreación y Unión Panamericana de Kurash, quienes desearon mucha suerte a los atletas.
Dentro de la Universiada participaron más de 100 atletas kurash de la Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD), la Universidad Tecnológica de Santiago (Utesa), la Universidad Tecnológica del Sur (Utesur), la Universidad Nacional del Evangelio (UNEV), la Católica del Norte (UCNE), la Universidad Tecnológica Americana (ITLA), el Instituto de Formación Avanzada de Profesores de Instituciones de Educación Superior Señorita Salomé Ureña (Isfodosu), la Universidad Católica de Santo Domingo (UCSD) y la Universidad Loyola de Estudios Especializados, compitieron por el título de campeón.
Al final de la competencia, se nombraron los ganadores, los organizadores entregaron medallas, diplomas y premios en efectivo.
Como referencia, desde 2018, el 23 de febrero ha sido declarado Día de Kurash por el Gobierno de la República Dominicana. En este día, se llevan a cabo eventos, seminarios y concursos de kurash en todas las regiones del país.

Within the Universiade, more than 100 kurash athletes from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), the Technological University of Santiago (Utesa), the Southern Technological University (Utesur), the National University of the Gospel (UNEV), the Northern Catholic University (UCNE), the American Technological University (ITLA), the Institute of Advanced Training of Teachers of Higher Educational Institutions named Senorita Salome Urena (Isfodosu), Catholic University of Santo Domingo (UCSD) and Loyola University of Specialized Studies, competed for the title of champion.
At the end of the competition, the winners were named, organizers presented medals, diplomas and cash prizes.
For reference, since 2018, February 23 has been declared Kurash Day by the Government of the Dominican Republic. On this day, kurash events, seminars and competitions are held in all regions of the country.
