Santo Domingo, República Dominicana. – Los Ticos incursionaron en el Kurash en año 2018 cuando asistieron al Seminario Internacional que se realizó en el afrodisiaco balneario del poblado de Boca Chica distante a 30 kilómetros de Santo Domingo capital de la Republica Dominicana.
Siendo el primer contacto técnico de algún costarricense con el deporte, quedando en la historia como los pioneros en tener conocimiento e instrucción del kurash, los jóvenes Diego Alvarado Fallas y Emilio Vindas.
En esta oportunidad recibieron la instrucción en entrenamiento, arbitraje, sistemas de competición, estructura de los organismos nacionales, regionales, continentales y mundiales, de la misma manera la actividad verso sobre la historia de esta ancestral disciplina hasta nuestros días.
El evento se desarrolló del 25 al 27 de mayo 2018 y a su llegada a Costa Rica estos dos jóvenes se dedicaron a impartir los conocimientos adquiridos con la realización de varios cursos a nivel nacional.
Para el 2019 ya Costa Rica incursiono competitivamente en IV Torneo Internacional Kurash Playa realizado en el balneario de Boca Chica en 30 de noviembre y en los Campeonatos Panamericanos de Kurash, femenino y masculino realizados el 1 de diciembre en el Pabellón Multiuso Ciro Pérez de la ciudad de San Cristóbal en la Republica Dominicana, ambos eventos fueron organizados por la Federación Dominicana de Kurash, Fedokurash, la que esta presidida por el profesor Israel Caraballo Jiménez.
En la oportunidad fueron cuatro personas que se presentaron a los Campeonatos Panamericanos de Kurash en la República Dominicana en representación de Costa Rica compitiendo en las versiones sobre tapiz (gilam) y playa.
El atleta Daniel Díaz Méndez logro medalla de oro en los Campeonatos Panamericanos e igual presea en el IV Torneo Internacional de Kurash Playa demostrando una gran calidad competitiva en ambas modalidades.
Por otro lado, Diego Alvarado Fallas fue ganador de medalla de oro en los Campeonatos de Kurash y medalla de plata en el IV Torneo Internacional de Kurash Playa eventos que contaron con el aval de la Unión Panamericana de Kurash que preside el dominicano Jaime Casanova Martínez.
Otro destacado atleta costarricense lo fue Allan Rodríguez con medalla de bronce en los Campeonatos Panamericanos de Kurash y oro en IV Torneo Internacional de Kurash Playa.
La selección estuvo dirigida por el señor Emilio Vindas entrenador y representante nacional de la escuadra de Costa Rica que ganó el tercer lugar general del evento donde Republica Dominicana obtuvo el primer lugar y Chile el segundo.
En la ocasión atletas de Estados Unidos, Haití, Venezuela, entre otros, vieron acción en ambos certámenes atléticos que año tras año se realizan en el país antillano.
La incursión de Costa Rica en el Kurash se fraguo después de varias conversaciones y reuniones con los profesores Guillermo Sánchez Cantillano y Luis Enrique Bogantes Sanabria quienes mostraron el interés de llevar este arte marcial a su país Costa Rica aportando su amplia experiencia en diferentes artes marciales.
El Comité Ejecutivo de la entidad federada está compuesto por Luis Enrique Bogantes Sanabria, Edgardo Mora y Guillermo Sánchez Cantillano quienes son presidente, vicepresidente y secretario, respectivamente.La entidad que gobierna este arte marcial en el mundo es la International Kurash Association (IKA) la que esta presidida por el ciudadano kuwaiti de nombre Haider Farman.

Santo Domingo Dominican Republic. – The Ticos ventured into Kurash in 2018 when they attended the International Seminar that was held in the aphrodisiac spa in the town of Boca Chica, 30 kilometers from Santo Domingo, capital of the Dominican Republic.
Being the first technical contact of a Costa Rican with the sport, remaining in history as the pioneers in having knowledge and instruction of the kurash, the young Diego Alvarado Fallas and Emilio Vindas.
On this occasion they received instruction in training, refereeing, competition systems, structure of national, regional, continental and world bodies, in the same way, the verse activity on the history of this ancient discipline to this day.
The event took place from May 25 to 27, 2018 and upon their arrival in Costa Rica, these two young people dedicated themselves to imparting the knowledge acquired through the completion of several courses at the national level.
For 2019, Costa Rica competitively entered the IV International Kurash Beach Tournament held in the Boca Chica resort on November 30 and in the Pan-American Kurash Championships, female and male, held on December 1 in the Ciro Pérez Multipurpose Pavilion in the city from San Cristóbal in the Dominican Republic, both events were organized by the Dominican Federation of Kurash, Fedokurash, which is chaired by Professor Israel Caraballo Jiménez.
On the occasion there were four people who appeared at the Pan American Kurash Championships in the Dominican Republic on behalf of Costa Rica competing in the versions on tapestry (gilam) and beach.
Athlete Daniel Díaz Méndez achieved a gold medal in the Pan American Championships and the same medal in the IV International Kurash Beach Tournament, demonstrating a great competitive quality in both modalities.
On the other hand, Diego Alvarado Fallas was the winner of a gold medal in the Kurash Championships and a silver medal in the IV International Kurash Beach Tournament, events that had the endorsement of the Pan American Union of Kurash chaired by the Dominican Jaime Casanova Martínez.
Another outstanding Costa Rican athlete was Allan Rodríguez with a bronze medal in the Pan American Kurash Championships and gold in the IV International Kurash Beach Tournament.
The selection was directed by Mr. Emilio Vindas, coach and national representative of the Costa Rican squad that won the third place overall in the event where the Dominican Republic obtained the first place and Chile the second.
On the occasion athletes from the United States, Haiti, Venezuela, among others, saw action in both athletic contests that are held year after year in the Antillean country.
Costa Rica’s foray into Kurash was forged after several conversations and meetings with professors Guillermo Sánchez Cantillano and Luis Enrique Bogantes Sanabria who showed their interest in bringing this martial art to their country, Costa Rica, contributing their extensive experience in different martial arts.
The Executive Committee of the federated entity is made up of Luis Enrique Bogantes Sanabria, Edgardo Mora and Guillermo Sánchez Cantillano who are president, vice president and secretary, respectively.
Also Ana Catila Sánchez, Norma Jiménez and Diego Alvarado in the functions of treasurer, member and prosecutor, successively.
Today the discipline of Kurash is expanding in the Central American area with several countries decisively entering the practice of the discipline that is originally from the Republic of Uzbekistan and is widely accepted throughout Central Asia, which allowed it to participate as an official sport in the XVII Asian Games of the year 2018.
The entity that governs this martial art in the world is the International Kurash Association (IKA) which is chaired by the Kuwaiti citizen named Haider Farman.
