*Kurash is recognized as an official sport of the International Military Sports Council (CISM)!*
🇱🇰Colombo, Sri Lanka – May 25, 2025. On this historic day for Kurash, one of the world’s largest sports organizations, the International Military Sports Council (CISM), officially recognized Kurash as a sport in its calendar. This important decision was made at the CISM General Assembly, held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from May 17 to 25, 2025.
♻️Founded in 1948 and Headquartered in Belgium, CISM is an influential International Organization that brings together 140 Member States and promotes peace and friendship among military forces through sport.
This achievement is the result of consistent efforts, negotiations, and cooperation between the International Kurash Association (IKA), Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Uzbekistan Kurash Federation.
🔰The presentation on Kurash, prepared by IKA Technical Director Mr. Ravi Kapoor at the General Assembly, was received with great interest by the CISM leadership. As a result, Kurash was included in the CISM calendar.
The first official Kurash competition within the CISM framework, the Kurash Challenge Cup, will be held in Uzbekistan on September 5-6, 2026. It is important to note that the final day of the competition, September 6, coincides with World Kurash Day.
📌The President of the IKA, Haider Farman, expressed his gratitude to the General Secretary of the IKA, Mr. Reza Nassiri, who actively participated in this important process and promoted the initiative, as well as to the CISM leadership, the Minister of the Sport of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the Uzbekistan Kurash Federation.
“This is a proud and joyful day for the World Kurash Family. Kurash is not just a sport—it is a spiritual heritage that symbolizes peace and honor. Its inclusion in the CISM sports program marks a new high point in the International Arena, especially among military athletes,” the IKA President said in his letter.

En este día histórico para el Kurash, una de las organizaciones deportivas más grandes del mundo, el Consejo Internacional de Deportes Militares (CISM), reconoció oficialmente el Kurash como deporte en su calendario. Esta importante decisión se tomó en la Asamblea General del CISM, celebrada en Colombo, Sri Lanka, del 17 al 25 de mayo de 2025.
♻️Fundado en 1948 y con sede en Bélgica, el CISM es una influyente organización internacional que reúne a 140 Estados miembros y promueve la paz y la amistad entre las fuerzas militares a través del deporte.
Este logro es el resultado de constantes esfuerzos, negociaciones y cooperación entre la Asociación Internacional de Kurash (IKA), el Ministerio de Deportes de la República de Uzbekistán, las Fuerzas Armadas de la República de Uzbekistán y la Federación de Kurash de Uzbekistán. La presentación sobre Kurash, preparada por el Director Técnico de la IKA, Sr. Ravi Kapoor, en la Asamblea General, fue recibida con gran interés por la dirección del CISM. Como resultado, Kurash se incluyó en el calendario del CISM.
La primera competición oficial de Kurash en el marco del CISM, la Copa Desafío de Kurash, se celebrará en Uzbekistán los días 5 y 6 de septiembre de 2026. Cabe destacar que el último día de la competición, el 6 de septiembre, coincide con el Día Mundial del Kurash.
El Presidente de la IKA, Haider Farman, expresó su agradecimiento al Secretario General de la IKA, Sr. Reza Nassiri, quien participó activamente en este importante proceso e impulsó la iniciativa, así como a la dirección del CISM, al Ministro de Deportes de la República de Uzbekistán, al Ministerio de Defensa de la República de Uzbekistán y a la Federación Uzbeka de Kurash. “Este es un día de orgullo y alegría para la Familia Mundial del Kurash. El Kurash no es solo un deporte, es un legado espiritual que simboliza la paz y el honor. Su inclusión en el programa deportivo del CISM marca un nuevo hito en el ámbito internacional, especialmente entre los atletas militares”, declaró el presidente de la IKA en su carta.
