Santo Domingo, República Dominicana.– El Comité Organizador de la Semana Panamericana del Kurash informó haber concluido los trabajos organizativos del certamen atlético donde hasta la fecha han confirmado su participación un total de once países.
En efecto los atletas de México, Panamá, Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, Haití, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Brasil y los locales de la República Dominicana verán acción del 12 al 16 de junio compitiendo por los primeros puestos en Infantil, Juvenil y Senior; femenino y masculino.
La Semana Panamericana de la disciplina cuyo origen es la República de Uzbekistán tendrá la realización de Cursos y Seminarios de Arbitraje, Entrenamiento y Sistemas de Grados con sus respectivas examinaciones, Congresos, Campeonatos Panamericanos y Torneo Internacional de Kurash de Playa.
El evento servirá como clasificatorio al World Series Pro 2025 bajo la orientación de la International Kurash Association como organización matriz de esta ancestral disciplina que tiene más de 3500 años de existencia.
La Unión Panamericana de Kurash encargo de la organización del certamen atlético a la Federación Dominicana de Kurash, Fedokurash, esperándose una gran calidad competitiva con configuras de alto relieve en el continente americano.
El programa general inicia el jueves 12 con la llegada de los representantes de la International Kurash Association (IKA) y del International Kurash Institute (IKI), así mismo, las diferentes delegaciones.
Para el viernes 13 están agendados los Cursos y Seminarios con sus respectivas examinaciones, pesajes de los atletas y sorteo de las 16 categorías de peso y Congreso Ordinario de la Unión Panamericana de Kurash (UPK).
El sábado 14 está prevista la realización de los Campeonatos Panamericanos en infantil, juvenil y senior los que agotarán la jornada completa finalizando con la proclamación y premiación de los Campeones Panamericanos tanto en femenino como en masculino.
Ya el domingo 15 en horas tempranas de la mañana se estará realizando el Torneo Internacional de Kurash Playa como modalidad en constante ascenso y en la que el continente americano ha sido un verdadero pilar de su desarrollo.
La sumatoria de las diferentes medallas por país dará el ganador indiscutible del Trofeo de Gran Campeón al concluir las actividades que serán realizadas en diferentes escenarios previamente establecidos del municipio de Boca Chica.
A la inauguración del evento están siendo invitadas las principales autoridades deportivas del país como el Ministro de Deportes el ingeniero Kelvin Cruz Cáceres, el también ingeniero y presidente del Comité Olímpico Dominicano el señor Garibaldy Bautista, el licenciado Luis Mejía Oviedo en su condición de Miembro del Comité Olímpico Internacional, el doctor Dionisio Guzmán, presidente del Pabellón de la Fama del Deporte Dominicano y el doctor José Joaquín Puello Herrera, expresidente del Comité Olímpico Dominicano, entre otras importantes y representativas personalidades.
El Comité Organizador informó que ya las diferentes comisiones están activadas y solo se espera la llegada de las delegaciones de los países participantes.

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.- The Organizing Committee of the Panamerican Kurash Week announced that it has completed the organizational work for the athletics competition, with a total of eleven countries confirming their participation to date.
Indeed, athletes from Mexico, Panama, Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, Haiti, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil, and the local Dominican Republic will compete from June 12 to 16, vying for top spots in the Children’s, Youth, and Senior categories, as well as in the men’s and women’s categories.
The Panamerican Week of the sport, which originated in the Republic of Uzbekistan, will feature courses and seminars on refereeing, training, and grading systems, along with their respective examinations, congresses, Panamerican Championships, and the International Beach Kurash Tournament.
The event will serve as a qualifier for the 2025 World Series Pro under the guidance of the International Kurash Association, the parent organization of this ancient discipline that has existed for more than 3,500 years.
The Panamerican Kurash Union entrusted the Dominican Kurash Federation (Fedokurash) with organizing the athletics competition. High-quality competition is expected from high-profile teams in the Americas.
The general program begins on Thursday the 12th with the arrival of representatives from the International Kurash Association and the International Kurash Institute (IKI), as well as the various delegations.
Courses and seminars are scheduled for Friday the 13th, with their respective examinations, athlete weigh-ins, and the drawing for the 16 weight categories, as well as the Ordinary Congress of the Panamerican Kurash Union (UPK).
The Panamerican Championships for children, youth, and senior athletes are scheduled for Saturday the 14th. These championships will last a full day, culminating with the proclamation and awarding of the Panamerican Champions in both the men’s and women’s categories.
On Sunday the 15th, in the early morning hours, the International Beach Kurash Tournament will be held, a sport that is constantly on the rise and in which the American continent has been a true pillar of its development.
The total number of medals awarded by country will determine the undisputed winner of the Grand Champion Trophy at the conclusion of the activities, which will take place in different previously established venues in the municipality of Boca Chica.
The country’s leading sports authorities have been invited to the event’s opening, such as the Minister of Sports, Engineer Kelvin Cruz Cáceres, and the engineer and president of the Dominican Olympic Committee, Mr. Garibaldy Bautista, Luis Mejía Oviedo, in his capacity as a member of the International Olympic Committee, Dr. Dionisio Guzmán, president of the Dominican Sports Hall of Fame, and Dr. José Joaquín Puello Herrera, former president of the Dominican Olympic Committee, among other important and representative figures.
The Organizing Committee reported that the various committees are already activated and only the arrival of the delegations from the participating countries is awaited.
