PAN AMERICAN KURASH ENTER THROUGH THE FRONT DOOR INTO THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS OF THE DISCIPLINE
Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.– The Dominican athlete Audrey Puello won the gold medal competing in the more than 87 kilogames of the World Kurash Championships that are held in this Central Asian city on November 27 and 28 at the conclusion of the International Circuit of the discipline of Uzbek origin and which began on November 22 in Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan with the World Series Pro (WSP) and where Audrey Puello herself won the silver medal and a cash prize of $5,000.
To achieve the gold medal in these World Championships, Audrey defeated Marjona Ruzieva from Uzbekistan in her first match and in a second match she beat Fatemeh Barmaki Kordkolaee from Iran and in the final match she defeated Sabina Agajanova from Turkmenistan. Dominicans Ginbel de León, Tomás Belén, Gabriel Ramírez, Enmanuel Uribe and Juana Morbán saw action in both events. Kurash’s Pan American Union delegation had athletes representing Haiti, Colombia, Costa Rica and Mexico.
The program developed at the XIV World Championships, women’s and men’s, includes seminars and exams for referees and coaches. The delegation in question was accompanied by Dr. Alquimedes Ortiz Cruz and engineer Jaime Casanova Martinez who are vice president and secretary, respectively, of the Dominican Kurash Federation (Fedokurash), which is chaired by Dr. Israel Caraballo Jimenez.
