Santo Domingo, República Dominicana.– Diferentes y variados eventos realizaron en este Día Internacional de la Mujer las Federaciones Nacionales afiliadas a la Unión Panamericana de Kurash de acuerdo a lo pedido por la Organización de las Naciones Unidas (ONU) de la actividad que la Asamblea General así lo dictamino.
El 8 de marzo, Día Internacional de la Mujer, fue establecido por la Asamblea General de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas (ONU) en 1977, en recordación al 8 de marzo de

1857, cuando 129 obreras textiles de la fábrica Cotton de Nueva York fallecen en un incendio mientras se manifestaban en contra de la extensa jornada laboral, los bajos salarios, las precarias condiciones de trabajo. Hoy día a 168 años de aquella fatídica huelga la lucha de las mujeres sigue en pie para contrarrestar la violación a los derechos humanos de mujeres y este 2025, el lema propuesto por la ONU, «Para TODAS las mujeres y niñas: Derechos. Igualdad. Empoderamiento», nos recuerda que la lucha por la igualdad

debe ser transversal e inclusiva, garantizando que ninguna mujer ni niña quede atrás o directamente fuera.
Nuestra disciplina de Kurash tiene una larga tradición en la integración de la mujer como practicantes y participantes en eventos competitivos al más alto nivel a la vez que se han destacado como entrenadoras,

árbitros y personal directivo sin restricción alguna respetando la parte religiosa de sexo y preferencias políticas en sentido general siempre acorde con la dirección de la International Kurash Association.
Varias son las atletas destacadas en todo el mundo teniendo la principalía aquellas oriundas del Asia y preferentemente de la República de Uzbekistán como Madre del Kurash siendo una disciplina ancestral de más de 3500 años de existencia.
En el caso de panamerica podemos exhibir a la única Campeona

Mundial la dominicana Audrey Puello quien compitiendo en los más de 87 kilogramos se alzó con la medalla de oro en los Campeonatos Mundiales realizados en Ashgabat, Turkmenistán en noviembre 2023, ella es nuestra mujer destacada en este Día Internacional de la Mujer 2025.
Cabe resaltar las actividades que con motivo de esta celebración del Día Internacional de la Mujer realizaron las Federaciones Nacionales de Mexico, República Dominicana, Venezuela y Costa Rica, entre otras.

Panamerican Kurash Union on International Women’s Day 2025

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.- Different and varied events were held on this International Women’s Day by the different National Federations affiliated to the Panamerican Kurash Union in accordance with the request of the United Nations Organization (UN) for the activity that the General Assembly so dictated.
March 8, International Women’s Day, was established by the General Assembly of the United Nations Organization (UN) in 1977, in remembrance of March 8, 1857, when 129 textile workers from the Cotton factory in New York died in a fire while demonstrating against the long work day, low wages, and precarious working conditions. Today, 168 years after that fateful strike, women’s struggle continues to counteract the violation of women’s human rights and in 2025, the motto proposed by the UN, «For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment», reminds us that the fight for equality must be transversal and inclusive, ensuring that no woman or girl is left behind or directly left out.
Our Kurash discipline has a long tradition in the integration of women as practitioners and participants in competitive events at the highest level while they have stood out as coaches, referees and management staff without any restrictions, respecting the religious aspect of sex and political preferences in a general sense always in accordance with the direction of the International Kurash Association.
There are several outstanding athletes around the world, with the main ones being those from Asia and preferably from the Republic of Uzbekistan as the Mother of Kurash, being an ancestral discipline of more than 3,500 years of existence. In the case of Panamerica, we can showcase the only World Champion, the Dominican Audrey Puello, who competing in the over 87 kilograms won the gold medal at the World Championships held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan in November 2023. She is our outstanding woman on this International Women’s Day 2025.
It is worth highlighting the activities carried out by the National Federations of Venezuela Mexico, Dominican Republic and Costa Rica, among others, on the occasion of this celebration of International Women’s Day.
