Unión Panamericana de Kurash presenta resumen de actividades 2025 / Pan American Kurash Union Presents 2025 Activity Summary

Santo Domingo, República Dominicana. – El Comité Ejecutivo de la Unión Panamericana de Kurash (UPK) y sus directores técnicos realizaron un recuento resumido de las principales actividades que durante todo el 2025 realizaron las Federaciones Nacionales afiliadas a la entidad que gobierna la disciplina en el continente americano.
En el año que finaliza la Unión Panamericana de Kurash puso un elevado énfasis en la capacitación de sus afiliados los que participaron en cuatro (4) seminarios de la International Testing Agency (ITA), seminarios de arbitraje y entrenamiento en el marco de la Semana Panamericana del Kurash realizados en el poblado de Boca Chica los días 12 y 13 de junio, de igual manera el seminario «Derribando tus miedos», entre otros.
El evento cumbre correspondió a la Semana Panamericana de Kurash que se realizó en el poblado de Boca Chica, Santo Domingo con capacitaciones en arbitraje y entrenamiento, reuniones, congreso, campeonatos panamericanos en infantil, juvenil y senior para concluir con el Torneo Internacional de Kurash Playa, todo del 11 al 17 de junio en el que estuvieron oficiales representativos de la International Kurash Association (IKA), el International Kurash Institute (IKI) y la Federación de Kurash de Uzbekistán (UKF). En la indicada Semana Panamericana de Kurash asistieron representaciones de Brasil, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Guatemala, México, Republica Dominicana y Haití, entre otros países participantes en el magno evento continental.
La Unión Panamericana de Kurash estuvo presente en diferentes actividades a nivel mundial como el Dia Internacional de la Mujer, Dia Internacional del Deporte para el Desarrollo y la Paz, Dia Internacional del Juego Limpio, Dia Mundial del Desafío, Dia Olímpico, Dia Internacional de la Juventud y Dia Mundial de la Caminata, entre otras actividades acorde con el calendario mundial de importantes eventos.
Una celebración de suma importancia que reviste la existencia de la disciplina originaria de Uzbekistán se desarrolló en toda América el 6 de septiembre cuando se cumplió el XXVII Aniversario de la fundación de la International Kurash Association (IKA) como organismo rector de esta disciplina a nivel mundial donde la UPK participo de manera activa con sus miembros afiliados.
En conjunto las Federaciones Nacionales sostuvieron una reunión virtual el 23 de abril con el Comité Ejecutivo de la Unión Panamericana de Kurash para tratar diversos puntos de agenda relativos a las actividades futuras como los campeonatos panamericanos, situaciones de clasificación al World Series Pro 2025 (WSP2025), entre otros temas, de igual manera el 13 de junio en el marco de la Semana Panamericana de Kurash se reunió la Asamblea General.
Entre las Federaciones Nacionales de Uzbekistán y Estados Unidos fue firmado un convenio de colaboración en diferentes áreas entre ambas entidades lo que es hito en la alianza de dos entidades de Asia y América.
Durante este 2025 recibimos la noticia de la inclusión del Kurash en el Consejo Mundial de Deporte Militar (CISM) lo que es un muy importante paso para la participación de nuestros atletas en las competiciones y capacitaciones de este reconocido organismo mundial.
Las Federaciones Nacionales de Venezuela, Nicaragua, México, Guatemala, Republica Dominicana, Estados Unidos y Costa Rica, tuvieron una amplia actividad con campamentos de entrenamiento, torneos nacionales e internacionales, examinaciones de grados, exhibiciones promocionales de la ancestral disciplina en el continente americano, entre otros eventos.
Ahora, el Comité Ejecutivo de la UPK con su cuerpo técnico prepara el Programa de Actividades 2026 con las actividades de las Federaciones Nacionales, los eventos competitivos de la International Kurash Association (IKA), la capacitación técnica en diversas áreas del International Kurash Institute (IKI) y los eventos que provienen de diversos organismos del deporte mundial.
El Comité Ejecutivo de la Unión Panamericana de Kurash está compuesto por Jaime Casanova Martínez, presidente; Elizabeth Thompson, vicepresidenta y Julián Abreu Jiménez, secretario, así mismo, los directores técnicos Luis Bogantes en tecnología, Alquímedes Ortiz en arbitraje y Ulrick Louis-Charles en sistemas de grados.

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.– The Executive Committee of the Panamerican Kurash Union (PKU) and its technical directors presented a summary of the main activities carried out throughout 2025 by the National Federations affiliated with the governing body of the sport in the Americas.
In the past year, the Panamerican Kurash Union placed a strong emphasis on training its members, who participated in four seminars conducted by the International Testing Agency (ITA), refereeing seminars, and training sessions held during Panamerican Kurash Week in Boca Chica on June 12 and 13. They also participated in the «Overcoming Your Fears» seminar, among other activities.
The highlight was the Panamerican Kurash Week, held in Boca Chica, Santo Domingo, featuring referee and coaching training, meetings, a congress, and Panamerican championships for children, youth, and seniors, culminating in the International Beach Kurash Tournament. All of this took place from June 11th to 17th and was attended by representatives from the International Kurash Association (IKA), the International Kurash Institute (IKI), and the Kurash Federation of Uzbekistan (UKF). Representatives from Brazil, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti, among other participating countries, attended the Pan American Kurash Week.
The Panamerican Kurash Union also participated in various global activities, including International Women’s Day, International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, International Fair Play Day, World Challenge Day, Olympic Day, International Youth Day, and World Walking Day, among other events on the world calendar.
A highly significant celebration of the existence of the discipline originating in Uzbekistan took place throughout the Americas on September 6th, marking the 27th anniversary of the founding of the International Kurash Association (IKA) as the governing body of this discipline worldwide. The Panamerican Kurash Union (PKU) actively participated in the event with its affiliated members.
The National Federations held a virtual meeting on April 23rd with the Executive Committee of the Panamerican Kurash Union to discuss various agenda items related to future activities, such as the Panamerican Championships, qualification for the 2025 World Series Pro (WSP2025), and other topics. Similarly, on June 13th, the General Assembly met during Panamerican Kurash Week.
A collaboration agreement was signed between the National Federations of Uzbekistan and the United States, covering various areas between the two entities, marking a milestone in the alliance between these two organizations from Asia and the Americas.
During 2025, we received the news of Kurash’s inclusion in the World Military Sports Council (CISM), a very important step for the participation of our athletes in the competitions and training programs of this renowned global organization.
The National Federations of Venezuela, Nicaragua, Mexico, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, the United States, and Costa Rica were very active, holding training camps, national and international tournaments, promotional exhibitions of this ancient discipline in the Americas, and other events.
Now, the UPK Executive Committee and its technical staff are preparing the 2026 Program of Activities, which includes the activities of the National Federations, competitive events of the International Kurash Association (IKA), technical training in various areas offered by the International Kurash Institute (IKI), and events organized by various international sports bodies.
The Executive Committee of the Panamerican Kurash Union is composed of Jaime Casanova Martínez, President; Elizabeth Thompson, vice president and Julián Abreu Jiménez, secretary, as well as the technical directors Luis Bogantes in technology, Alquímedes Ortiz in arbitration and Ulrick Louis-Charles in grading systems.
