The remainder of the year promises significant developments in the doping control landscape, with key changes underway at its international authority. Last week, the World Anti-Doping Agency unveiled fresh guidelines and announced new candidates for upcoming leadership elections.
Cost-effective testing
The latest version of the Laboratory Guidelines for the Analytical Requirements for the Endocrine Module of the Athlete Biological Passport is now available, and changes will be effective immediately. The main change in version 2.0 is an adjustment in the analysis from a duplicate to single measurement of the endocrine markers (IGF-1 and P-III-NP), which will reduce the cost of sample analysis for the Endocrine Module and allow for better efficiency with regard to the available serum sample volume.
These benefits come without compromising the effectiveness of the Endocrine Module, owing to the strong analytical performance demonstrated by the laboratories since the launch of this module two years ago.
We have updated the Laboratory Guidelines for the Endocrine Module of the Athlete Biological Passport. This version 2.0 will bring increased cost efficiency to Anti-Doping Organizations. Read more here: https://t.co/qwme3G3r32

Advisory group changeover
The agency also launched the preliminary phase of the election for the National Anti-Doping Organisations Expert Advisory Group last week. All ten NADO EAG seats are looking to be filled, and WADA has asked all NADOs to submit nominations for candidates for three-year terms beginning on 1 January 2026. The deadline to submit candidatures is 3 September, with elections held in October.
The EAG’s ten members are elected by NADOs via regional elections and represent the five Olympic/Paralympic regions. The members are responsible for reviewing anti-doping matters that impact NADOs, providing relevant guidance and recommendations to WADA to enhance its collaboration with, and development of, NADOs globally. The NADO EAG also represents the views of NADOs and brings them forward to WADA’s Foundation Board by electing their chair and vice-chair, who in turn sit on the board.
While regional stakeholders will vote on their representative, WADA’s Election Procedure will govern the election process. This will dictate the criteria for the candidate to be eligible for election, procedural steps for submission of candidatures and provisions related to potential infringement of the procedure and protection of personal information.
